I have recently embarked upon a journey, a quest. The goal I seek is a simple one: This blog is an attempt to record this experience. I expect this to be a lengthy process full of pitfalls and setbacks and I would like to document the various steps so that other people may be able to use my experience to help them in a similar struggle. Why is Italian bureaucracy like playing a role playing game? Because attempting to get something done at a public office is like being on a quest, one that may seem simple at first.
But before you can slay the dragon, you need to find the proper sword. And to get the sword, you need to first find the right potion that the sword-keeper wants for a barter. And the adventure goes on and on.

Are you tired of being single? Do you believe that life is not meant to be lived alone? Have you ever dreamed of a wedding in Italy or in another beautiful place in the world? Do you love to travel the world? It goes without saying that if you want to date real Italian singles, you must live in Italy and start looking for men in Italy. Sadly, I even met Americans who became Italian citizens a long time ago and don't speak fluent Italian yet.
Anyway, what you probably don't know is that… dating doesn't exist in Italy! You can't really date an Italian man or woman. In Italy, dating a person means that you are in a relationship with this person not necessarily a long-term relationship. In the US and other Anglophone countries, dating is a phase that usually precedes a relationship proper.
Also, it is not uncommon to "date" as many people as possible, until you find the one you want to start a relationship with. On the other hand, in Italy you don't usually "date" anyone: Dating as many people as possible doesn't belong to Italian dating customs or etiquette, and is almost always frowned upon and considered inappropriate behavior. The reality is that living in the most beautiful places of Italy is expensive.
It is no accident that only rich artists, such as George Clooney, can afford a decent lifestyle in Italy or a decent wedding in Italy — Venice, in his case. Tom Cruise's third wedding, celebrated in a castle not far from my house, was absolutely gorgeous, but certainly not cheap.
Anyway, it is a known fact that only the wealthy could afford to travel and live overseas without much hassle. On the other hand, even dreams have their drawbacks: This is a great way to upset your rich spouse. In the meantime enjoy this beautiful Italian commercial I worked for Calzedonia: Life Is a Journey with Julia Roberts.
United Kingdom Scotland, part 1 , France Paris, part 2 , and more importantly Florence ending , which just happens to be the city she chooses to live in because the view is breathtaking:. In theory, the best solution is going to Italy and starting to look for a good guy.
Don't make the mistake of hanging out with expats only: Regardless of the outcome, you will definitely enjoy the myriad beautiful places that Italy has; there is no question about it.
After all, we are talking about one of the most beautiful countries in the world. However, why not invite a real Italian man to your hometown? Some Italians are willing to move, as long as they don't lose their job or they can find a new one. It can be a great way to date and get to know each other. A common misconception is that Italy has some "places" where singles meet. In other words, they wanted an "address" where they could find a man.
The reality is there is no such thing as a specific place or places for singles in Italy. Other countries may have this concept, but not Italy. In theory, any place can potentially be the good one, as long as you are fluent in Italian and therefore able to communicate and get to know people. Having the highest number of romantic getaways in the world, Italy is a great place to find a nice man to date, to have a serious relationship with, or to marry. Granted, if your name is Juliet, you live in Verona, and your boyfriend is called Romeo, your love life may not be that easy though.
William Shakespeare didn't imagine this could be real. While Italy is one of the most beautiful countries in the world, if not the most beautiful, it is also one of the most bureaucratic. Everything requires you to go through a lot of red tape, all the more so if you are going to get married. This is very different from the mentality of the US or of English-speaking countries in general.
Requirements for foreigners, US citizens included, are strict. In addition, you don't even speak — or read — fluent Italian, so you draw your own conclusions. That being said, you don't have to worry: I will take care of everything quickly. I get paperwork done every day, in Italy and abroad. I am very familiar with Italian bureaucracy and legislative system, which is why I will be running for Italian parliament soon no kidding.
Regardless of religions, nobody denies that masterpieces such as St. Peter's cathedral in Rome — by Michelangelo — or St. Mark's basilica in Venice — also known as the "church of gold", since some of its ancient mosaics are actually made of gold — are undisputed architectural milestones in human history. The list of buildings is much longer though — in the order of hundreds of churches — and I suggest opening an encyclopedia of art and architecture if you are interested.
Michelangelo's Capitol Palace — if you thought that "the Capitol" in Washington DC was an original idea… well, you were wrong, because the real Capitol Hill dates back to the Roman Empire — now houses Rome City Hall, which is where civil weddings are celebrated.
I come across them every time I go up there. The list of buildings is much longer though — in the order of hundreds of thousands, considering all the Italian provinces — and I suggest opening an encyclopedia of art and architecture if you are interested. For the record, the palace chosen by George Clooney is a mansion belonging to the former Republic of Venice, built about years ago.
Everyone would like to live la dolce vita in Italy, which is also the best way to date an Italian man. But if you don't have enough money, or you don't have a visa, you could try online dating. Finding a man online is possible, but the main drawback is that online dating is not very common in Italy, and the few Italian dating websites or apps are not as popular as they are in America. More specifically, dating apps are usually considered garbage, and most Italians prefer to meet people in real life without online dating.
Besides, distance is going to be a major problem in the long run: In fact, some people confuse international dating with long distance relationships: Two people should be together and get to know each other. International dating means that two people want a real relationship by expanding their horizons and looking for a significant other outside of the usual group of local singles.
First of all, this page is not about online dating, but real dating. This page is not the usual "man seeking woman" profile either. I still wonder what they are doing there. Sex workers are not rare though, and, in this case, we all know what they are doing there.
So, yes, online dating might work well if you need short and superficial sexual relationships, assuming you are lucky enough to get them for free: This is because dating apps and websites are conceived to retain as many trapped users as possible: And to add insult to injury, they will ask you to pay for silly "premium" services.
Curiously, the most popular "dating" app is Tinder, which is also the most ridiculous. Other apps have been trying to oust Tinder for a long time, unsuccessfully, despite plenty of fake ads and plenty of "happy couples" who met through the nth new app and are now married with kids etc. Needless to say, none of these hypothetical couples say where they are from, where they live, or their real full names.
Sure, in the imagination of the publicists. Being a complete waste of time, in my experience it is not worth it. It is not uncommon to come across blogs that try to support this argument. The typical complaints are: Most bloggers, usually American ladies, tell their own experiences or their girlfriends' experiences: Anyway, I don't doubt they might have had a bad experience and I respect everybody's opinions… but they are just opinions, more often than not belonging to frustrated people who generalize their failures, and project their own inability to build a long-term relationship onto others.
It's because every Italian man is an imbecile and now I hate them! On the other hand, people like the Clooneys enjoy the unique beauty of Italy without ranting and raving or wasting time on Internet forums, blogs or Facebook. Quite a different approach…. Aren't there any cheaters in the US, to pick just one example?
Seeing Italians as "sex machines" — for better or worse, depending on one's preferences — is obviously a distorted picture of reality. In any case, what you will not find elsewhere is… the place: Italy is unique and, believe it or not, this may improve your sex life too: For what it is worth, my suggestion is: Choose the right person, bring out the best in you, don't blame others for your own failures, and choose the right place — which doesn't necessarily mean living in Italy all the time: Your success is in your own hands: We all know that distinguished elite professional women want to date successful men.
But we also know that it is not easy to find the right person. Well, don't be too picky, otherwise you are going to argue with everyone.
In any case, a successful professional doesn't give up easily, is diligent in his or her work, ambitious, smart, intelligent, educated, and patient. For example, I firmly believe it is possible to find this kind of person. No matter what your job is, I will value it and you will always have time for your career.
Thermal waters are good for many conditions, including skin problems, nose, ear and throat troubles, such as sinus, and arthritis.
Increasingly, women are using the very popular beauty treatments available at many spas. These include anti-cellulite treatments, body masks with mud or seaweed, ex-foliation, and delightful massages. Ways in which the water is used include sipping the mineral waters, having relaxing baths and showers to stimulate the skin and get rid of toxins, and hydro massages, i. This spa near Venice was used by the ancient Romans and features extremely hot water — 87 degree Celsius — which contains sodium chloride, sodium bromide and sodium iodide.
There are hotels here to choose from and there are many beauty treatments available, including phytotherapy and fangotherapy, i. According to the deliciousitaly.
This area is famous for its fangotherapy, which consists of placing radioactive mud poultices on the skin for 15 to 30 minutes, bathing the mud off in a mineral bath, and a bracing massage.
Places to see here include the Cathedral, the Bell Tower, the monastery and, of course, the beautiful hilly countryside of the Euganian mountains. The area around this ancient hillside town in Tuscany is famous for its hot sulphurous waters from underground springs. Near the town there is a large waterfall which forms many natural rock pools in which the ancient Romans and Etruscans liked to bathe.
The waters here are also famous for their thermal plankton, which is believed to have a moisturizing and rejuvenating effect on the skin. The luxury four-star hotel, Terme di Saturnia, has an extensive beauty and spa program with a doctor on hand, and spa packages are available. The picturesque hotel is in an ancient building of travertine stone surrounded by large parklands.
Pampering treatments available here include multi-jet stress reduction which involves bathing amidst 90 jet springs which provide a thermal water massage, and gommage. Gommage consists of exfoliating the skin and then rehydrating it with thermal plankton treatment. The hotel even has a beauty product line which contains ingredients from the waters. The sulphurous springs around Viterbo were mentioned by Dante in his Divine Comedy, used by the Romans and Etruscans, and even visited by some of the popes.
This town, which was once a seat of papal power in medieval times, is also worth seeing because of its Papal Palace, and San Pellegrino , the best-preserved medieval quarter in Italy. Treatments available at the luxurious spa, Terme dei Papi Baths of the Popes , include facials with volcanic mud or a steam bath in an ancient cave.
